Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions I am commonly asked and their answers:

What shots do my dogs need to stay with you?

They should have their Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella shots. The last one, Bordetella, is a vaccine that protects against kennel cough. Dogs are susceptible to kennel cough while under stress, in a place with several other dogs such as a shelter, kennel or grooming salon and most of all the dog park! Kennel cough is like a common cold for dogs (I compare it to croup if you know what that is in children). It is treated with meds and lots of TLC most get over it in about 10 days.

Can I bring my dogs' toys, beds and blankets?

Of Course!!! I want your pup to be completely comfortable!  I also ask that you bring their own food, switching a dog's food abruptly is not good for them and may stress them out causing them not to eat.

Do you use crates?

If you use a crate then I will, if you don't then I don't!

Do you ever leave them home alone?

Short answer: Rarely but yes. When I do have to leave them I separate them by dividing the house into sections, this way I feel more comfortable and I know there will not be a "doggy party" while I am gone. They are almost never alone for more than 2 hours. I also have a camera that I can view from my phone so that I can keep an eye on them (and my husband...lol) while I am at work.

Do you have a job?

This is a tough one... Kind of. I am a Real Estate Agent, but not too active there. Recently two very good friends here followed their dreams and opened a restuarant called Rise. It is just the two of them and with the restuarant getting busy I have decided to help them! Some days it's only 1-2 hours and some days it's 3-4 hours! The good news is that my husband is home all day!! He loves your pets just as much as I do!

What other kinds of animals do you take?

Everything but unicorns, however, if you happen to have a unicorn I will gladly learn how to care for it!  Really though, I have had tons of expirience with all sorts of animals. My first job, when I was 14, was working in an exotic pet shop. We had everything; sugar gliders, degus, prarie dogs, ferrets, birds, rats, snakes, fish and more. I love learning all I can about animals and seem to somehow retain everything I learn (unlike everything I learned in math class)!

Do you take the pets on outings?

Yes! If you give me permission I will walk your dog twice a day, or go the dog park, and sometimes we even go up Madera Canyon or to Mt Lemmon. I love riding my bike and it's 10 times better with a dog! :-) I have taught quite a few dogs how to run along side the bike in only a few hours! I also have a neighbor with a pool and he allows me to take some of the pups swimming!

Can I come see your house before leaving my pet with you?

Of Course!

Why don't you have all of your dogs out when I come to drop off my dogs?

Can you imagine walking into a room of strangers, or even people you have met before, and having them all want to talk to you and say hi at once? It would be pretty overwhelming. That is why I put my dogs upstairs while you drop off. I then bring them down one by one so that everyone is calm and happy! I assure you all my dogs are super friendly!!!

I have a dog aggressive dog, can you still watch him/her?

Yes! Some dogs have backgrounds that we can't even imagine... they are still good dogs just not around other dogs! I can still watch them, but I will have to stay at your house.

Do you watch cats?

Yes, I set up a guest room for them. Since I have a dog door I'm not comfortable just letting them roam. You will have to bring food and a litter box :-)

How many pets do you have of your own?

I currently have a ferret named GusGus, two sugar gliders, a "foster failure" cat named Sophia and four dogs (Drake weighing in at 105 lbs, Desiree at 4.5 lbs, Isabelle at 4.1 lbs and Penny at a whopping 3.6 lbs). I also rescue when I have the time and money, so once in a while you might meet a pet that needs a forever home!
